Epic Conditions

Squaw said it perfectly on their website: "We are experiencing *legendary* conditions". The Lake Tahoe-area has received about 20 feet of snow over the past 2 weeks and it's still coming down. The Sierras haven't seen a storm like this in almost 90 years, let alone this early in the ski season. This past weekend was the first official weekend for our cabin. After endless debate, everyone got up safe and sound with no major road delays. If I had left an hour later than I had, I would still be sitting on 80 east. Once we were up there, the continually falling snow created a super peaceful vibe. That and the fact that we had the whole town to ourselves made for a chill time. Visibility up on the trails was a different story. Squaw, Northstar and Alpine reported anywhere between 70-80 mph winds at times forcing them to close most, if not all, of their upper mountain lifts. I was in the thick of 100% whiteout conditions on 267 leaving Northstar giving me an inkling of what it's like in those 50 car pile-ups you read about on the news from time to time. Without a doubt, the scariest driving conditions I've ever experienced. Heading back up this coming Friday night with Kevin and Lisa for what should be even better conditions.
