Mash-Ups

There's this DJ, Ben Gill, that's been getting a bit of lip service lately here in SF for his part in the mash-up trend (i.e. jamming together two or more tracks that either sound very similar or are wildly different). Check out this mash-up of Led Zeppelin and Snoop Doggy Dog --> Led Snoopelin. Here's another sick mash-up of Green Day and Oasis --> Boulevard of Broken Songs. Too many other great ones to list out separately, but check out this link for Party Ben's most popular ones.

A little slice of history Upper West Side (1800s) for you NYC'ers. Yes, cows used to roam the Upper Vest before John and Yoko fertilized Strawberry Fields.

Interview with Todd Solondz (of Welcome to the Dollhouse and Happiness fame) about his most recent film, Palindromes. I saw him at the SF International Film Festival a few weeks back where he surprised the audience with a post-screening guest appearance/Q&A.
