Capote- Arguably Philip Seymour Hoffman's best performance to date. In 1959 novelist Truman Capote (Hoffman) travels with childhood friend Harper Lee (Catherine Keener) to Kansas to write an article about the Clutter family murders. The article eventually morphed into In Cold Blood.

Where the Truth Lies - Vince Collins (Colin Firth) and Lanny Morris (Kevin Bacon) were the hottest showbiz act of the 1950s, but were ruined when a young woman was found dead in their suite. Fifteen years later, a journalist convinces her publisher to offer Vince a million dollars for the untold story of that fateful night.

The Squid and the Whale - In 1986 Brooklyn, Walt Berkman (Jesse Eisenberg of Roger Dodger) is coming of age in his chaotic home. Both his father (Jeff Daniels), a once-successful novelist, and his mother (Laura Linney) have taken lovers and are rapidly heading for divorce. So it's up to Walt and his younger brother to grapple with what has become of their family.

Separate Lies - Stockbroker James Manning (Tom Wilkinson) thinks that he has the ideal marriage, but then his wife Anne (Emily Watson) meets the charming and enigmatic Bill Bule (Rupert Everett) and they embark on a passionate affair. After Bill and Anne are implicated in the accidental death of a local man, James puts aside his feelings of betrayal and resolves to protect her from the investigation.
